I am avid supporter of satellite radio and listen to Sirius roughly 5-8 hours a day on most days. While I mostly listen to the political/talk channels, I also enjoy the commercial-free music channels as well.
Recently, Sirius launched a new channel named Indie-Talk, which can be found on channel 110. I have been listening to the new channel off and on for a few days now, and I gotta say that it is pretty good.
Indie Talk, an exclusive, groundbreaking SIRIUS talk radio channel serves as an uncensored forum for non-patrtisan independent thought and opinion. Indie Talk has no agenda: the channel gives an equal voice to individuals from any affiliation or background, targets the blogger generation, and is a platform for listeners across the country to react to breaking news, issues and buzz.
One show on the channel in particular that I really like is called The Blog Bunker. It is basically a discussion about blogs, what is going on in the blogosphere, and general talk about the latest stories hitting the blogs.
According to the Sirius website, The Blog Bunker is described as
A cutting-edge roundtable featuring a selection of the over 100 million bloggers around the globe.
They also incorporate a piece called the Blogcast News Updates, which is a quick synopsis of the latest blog headlines. This piece airs every 20 or so minutes and features several well-known blogs as part of the piece.
Other shows and personalities on the channel include Ron Silver and comedian Pete Dominick, who also hosts a few of the shows on the Sirius Raw Dog comedy channel.
The channel is certainly something fresh that Sirius has launched to target the "blogger generation". And while the channel does include some good content, the content is a little bare, as most of the shows simply repeat from the previous day at various times. Hopefully, they will be adding some other content if the channel does well among Sirius listeners.
While I am talking about Sirius, I cannot go without mentioning what is without a doubt the greatest talk radio show to ever grace the air (satellite or otherwise), and that show is The Wilkow Majority. Hosted by conservative radio host Andrew Wilkow, The Wilkow Majority is a show that will grab you and force you to listen. Wilkow's ability to analyze politics is like no one I have ever heard, and while I do not agree with most of his views, the show is worthy of every single accolade it receives. You can listen to The Wilkow Majority every day from 12-3pm Eastern on Sirius Patriot, channel 144.
